Alipius, South Australia Alipius is a town in South Australia on the north side of the Flinders Highway. The Kowali Creek forms the south-western boundary. The Kowali Creek forms the south-western boundary, the Flinders Highway forms the north-western boundary. The town is situated in the Cooper Creek catchment, which is approximately long. Cooper Creek, which has its source on the western side of the Flinders Highway, has been diverted southwards to the Kowali Creek. It is crossed by the Flinders Highway and also by Railway Road. The Alipius Weir, a dam constructed in 1913, forms part of the Kowali Creek irrigation project. Alipius has an active community including a fire station, community hall, library, garage and playground. The Alipius Roadhouse and caravan park is located south of Alipius. Climate The town is in the humid subtropical climate zone, and features hot dry summers and cool wet winters. This climate type is unusual in Australia.
